Sci-Fi convention listsings - Buffy, Farscape, etc.

Fairie Festival - Yearly beginning of May in Glen Rock, PA. So far I've yet to make it to this, maybe next year... I really wanted to go this year and just was checking when it was and it was the first weekend of May 2004 and today is May 30. It's sort of like a ren faire but all faerie themed.

Kindred Spirits Fair - Yearly on a weekend near the end of May in NJ. Speakers, workships, live music & drumming, kids programs, vendors, healthy food, all sorts of holistic things.

2001

January 12-14 - Arisia '01, sci-fi/fantasy convention, Boston, MA.

February 16-18 (Pres day weekend) - Boskone 38, a regional Science Fiction convention focusing on literature, art, music, and gaming. Held in Framingham, Mass, $36 until January 17, 2001, price goes up at the door.

February 16-18 - Katsucon 007, anime, comics, manga convention, Arlington, VA.

March 16-18th - Gothcon 2001 in New Orleans. Voltaire's playing and lots of other spooky goodness. Details on the website.

March 23-25 - Lunacon, Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention in Rye Brook, NY.

March 30 - April 1 - I-Con 20, Sci-Fi & Fantasy con. I attended I-Con 19 and had a great time, tons of anime, horror, star trek, gaming, toys, seminars, gothness, vampires, cyborgs, monsters.

April 16-22 - Gotique Noiree: The Dark Nights - was supposed to take place in Houston, TX but it has been cancelled for time being, it's possible that it will be held at a later date.

April 27-29 - Pittsburgh Comicon, comic convention, at Pittsburgh Expomart, Monroeville, PA. $15/day or $35 for a 3 day pass.

May 25-28 - Balticon 34, sci-fi/fantasy convention, Baltimore, MD.

May 25-27 - Big Easy Comic-Con, New Orleans, LA.

May 25-27 - Eclectic 21, melting pot of all genres convention, I'm sure Sci-Fi and horror are included, held in Leicester, UK.

June 1-3 - Shoujocon, anime convention, Newark, NJ.

June 22-24 - Monster Bash horror movie convention, held in North Pittsburgh/Butler, PA.

July 13-15, Friday-Sunday - Readercon 13 - A small literary con in Weston, MA.

August 30 - Sept 3 - The Millennium Philcon®, at The Pennsylvania Convention Center & Philadelphia Marriott Hotel Philadelphia, PA. The 59th World Science Fiction Convention.

August 31-Sept 3 - Dragoncon - Sci-Fi con , held in Atlanta, GA yearly. I've yet to get to one of these but I hear they are tons of fun for gothy types. In 2000 3 or 4 goth bands performed at the con, including Cruxshadows and Voltaire. There's links to tons of pages of pictures by attendees. So far they have Harlan Ellison, Ray Harryhausen, Harry Turtledove, and Timothy Zahn lined up.

October 26-28 - Chiller Theatre horror toy, model & film expo. Held in Rutherford, NJ. $10 a day, or $15 at the door, tons of great vendors of anime, toys, action figures, and of course b movies. There's always playboy chicks and B movie sluts hanging around there. Held 2 times a year in NJ in October and April.

Nov 9 - 11, 2001 - United Fan Con - New England's Premier (Fan-Run) Media Science Fiction Convention, held at the Marriott Hotel, Springfield, MA. Friday 3pm-12:30 AM, Saturday 10 AM-2 AM, Sunday 10 AM-6 PM. They will feature guests from Star Trek, Dr Who and more. There will be a Banquet with Cabaret, panels, dealer room, masquerade, autographs, 2 charity auctions, 10-Forward Dance Party. Charity auction proceeds to be donated to american cancer society. Ticket prices: Reserved weekend $47 , weekend $37, Sat only $22, Sun $22, Fri $9, rates inrease after May 31, 2001. Banquet is Sat night with Guests scheduled to attend - Fee TBA, Banquet Tickets if available can now only be purchased at the door! Children 8-12 half price; under 8 Free (with one adult admission).

2000

September 8-10 - Anime USA 2000 Convention Holiday Inn Rosslyn Westpark at Key Bridge, Arlington, Virginia.

September 22-30, - The Festival of Fantasy, Fetish & Fashion, at Hedonism II, Negril, Jamaica. Brought to you by Abby, Featuring: Madame Sang & Master R, La Domaine Esemar The Baroness, Designer of Fine Latex Fashions Fetish Photographer Anneli Adolfsson New York's Most Vicious Dominatrix: Madame Cole deSade Ms. Antoinette, Versatile Fashions.

September 28 - Oct 1 - ShoreCon2000 - held in Cherry Hill, NJ at the Hilton Hotel, mostly gaming, board, card, role playing, live action, computer games. If you register early it's $13-$20/day or $30 for the weekend, at the door it's $20-30/day or $45 for the weekend.

September 28 - Oct 1 - Experiment in Terror, an unprecedented horror convention. Held in Ramada Plaza Hotel O'Hare 6600 N Mannheim Rd, Rosemont, IL 60018 (847) 827-5131, the room rate is $87. Events include Ghoulish beach party, fetish masquerade ball, and a special banquet. See the site for guests (including vampire authoress Nancy Kilpatrick) and other events.

September 29 - Oct 1 - Harvestfest - Brought to you by the organizers and staff of Wic-Can Fest, Canada's longest running pagan festival. A family oriented 3 day festival set in beautiful private woodland setting just one hour north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the beginning of October each year. They provide a first rate program featuring interesting workshops, seminars, herb walks, and concerts for both young and old. Harvestfest is a remarkable gathering where friends meet and new acquaintances are made.

October 6-8 - New York Anime Film Festival - Peter Chung (Aeon Flux!!!) and Neil Gaiman are among the guest list, it will be held at Director's Guild of America Theatre, 110 W. 57th St., between 6th Ave & 7th Ave, NYC. Tickets are $18 per day, available at ticketmaster.

October 6-8 - Albacon 2000, Sci-Fi con at the Ramada Inn 450 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY (518) 370-7151.

October 6-9 - Gaylaxicon 2000, sci-fi/horror/fantasy con held for and by gay fans, at Arlington Hilton & Towers, Arlington, VA.

October 27-28 - Horrorfest 2000, Sci-Fi/Horror con at the Radisson Hotel, Northlake, GA. 770-971-6738.

November 10-12 - Cult-Con 2000 - The Exploitation/Cult Cinema, TV & music convention, held in Tarrytown, NY. Lots of guests from horror films we've never heard of and some you have. See the web site for scedule of events and celebrity guests, admission $13 per day or $30 for the weekend in advance. At the door it will be $15 and $40. They have a special hotel rate at the Hilton if you reserve early, $99 per night.

November 10-12 - United Fan Con, Springfield, MA. Sci-Fi, gaming con. Ethan Phillips (Neelix on Voyager) and Elisabeth Sladen (Dr. Who) will be there.

November 17-19 - Philcon, Sci-Fi/Fantasy con in Philadelphia, PA, there will be a big masquerade costume contest.

November 18-19, Sat & Sun - Northeast Supercon, meant to be held in Long Island, NY, with James Marsters (Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) sceduled to make an appearance, has been postponed till Spring 2001 after James cancelled. This sort of worked out good for me, I've been waiting for this con since March for Spike and then committed myself to go to Amsterdam that weekend, now I won't be missing him!

November 19-23, Sun-Thurs - Cannabis Cup 2000 in Amsterdam, Holland. Click the link for all needed info including how to be a judge (anyone can for just $200), full travel packages, events and info. I'm going with my boyfriend, and so far I've determinded that we're much better off not buying the travel package. See Tiss.com for good international flights.

GothCon - held in Atlanta, GA, all goths welcome, I put it here because they haven't put the date for 2001 on the web site yet.

Convergence - yearly net goth gathering, held in a different major city each year which is voted on by a few thousand net goths around the world. 2001 Location and date not set yet.

DEF CON - Super-geek hacking convention held yearly in Las Vegas, next one summer 2001.

Disclave - there wasn't one in 98, 99, or 2000 but a committee is forming for 2001. Usually held Memorial Day weekend near Washington, D.C.

The Cthulhu Mythos Convention - Celebrating H. P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos in all its forms. Seems to be held every few years in Providence, RI, there isn't one for 2000.

Bats 2000 - due to difficulties this multimedia Halloween convention has been canceled for 2000, maybe it'll return next year.

Death Equinox & The Cyber-Psycho Convergence - cancelled for 2000, look for it next year. An Annual Convergence of the Bleak & Absurd in Arts & Media in Denver, Colorado, in late September.

Praxis - another con that had to skip 2000, sci-fi con held in Monroeville, PA.
